The documentary film shot in Tanzania has been officially selected by the Italy Green Film Festival. The team will attend the ceremony on June 26 at the Teatro Argentina, alongside the big names of Italian cinema.
Rome, June 13, 2025 – Safara, the second documentary film produced by TakeMeBack – Corrieri Solidali, has been officially selected for the prestigious Golden Leaf 2025 Awards Ceremony and Gala, the flagship eventof the Italia Green Film Festival, scheduled for Thursday, June 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the charming Teatro Argentina in Rome.
The ceremony is one of the most eagerly awaited events on the international film scene, a place where the language of cinema intertwines with the values of sustainability, civic engagement, and social innovation. This recognition is further enhanced by the patronage of institutions such asUNESCO and the European Parliament, which have awarded the Festival High Cultural and Educational Value.
The 2025 edition stands out for its global and cross-cutting participation, confirming the central role of the Italy Green Film Festival as an international platform for "green" and social cinema.
The evening will open with a performance by the Rome Capital Local Police Band, followed by the arrival on the Green Carpet of the finalist directors, actors, and producers, together with special guests from the world of culture and entertainment. Among the big names expected to attend are Franco Nero (Honorary President), Oscar-winning director Giuseppe Tornatore, Michele Placido, Christian De Sica, Edoardo Leo, and many other prominent figures.
TakeMeBack and Safara will be represented by Antonio Di Leonardo, Andrea Mariani, Giuliana Colucci, and Lorenzo Antonelli, the protagonists of a project that combines practicality, vision, and responsibility.
Filmed entirely in Tanzania, Safara recounts the journey of the Solidarity Couriers through remote villages, isolated schools, and forgotten communities, restoring dignity and visibility to places often overlooked by the spotlight. The documentary film is at once a story, a testimony, and poetry: a narrative that intertwines aesthetics, conscience, and human impact. Giving voice to this intense narrative is Roberto Pedicini, one of Italy's most famous voice actors, whose performance adds further emotional depth to the story.
Safara's official selection is a tribute to a different way of making films, based on participatory observation and empathy, far removed from conventional entertainment models. The images, carefully collected in the field, offer an authentic and respectful view, capable of speaking to the viewer's heart and stimulating reflection.
In an increasingly fast-paced media landscape saturated with content, Safara stands out for its ability to restore time, depth, and attention to the stories it tells. It is an invitation to look beyond, to rediscover the value of listening, and to believe that a different kind of storytelling—based on closeness, beauty, and solidarity—is still possible.
Safara is not just a film. It is testimony to how solidarity, when born from direct contact and listening, can transform into concrete change. The work of TakeMeBack – Corrieri Solidali reminds us that even the simplest gestures – a delivery, a smile, a shared journey – can build bridges between distant worlds and rewrite the meaning of "help." In a time that pushes us towards indifference, Safara asks us to choose again: between distance and proximity, between passivity and participation.
