Directed by Marco Napoli and filmed in Sri Lanka, this documentary film builds on the international reach of the project, which originated in Chieti, by chronicling the missions of the “Corrieri Solidali” and promoting access to education.
Chieti, November 6, 2026 – “Serendip,” the documentary film directed by Marco Napoli and produced by TakeMeBack – Corrieri Solidali, has been renewed on Netflix for another five years. Now available in 18 languages, the film continues to bring the story of a project that combines travel, cinema, and solidarity to an international audience.
Serendip follows Andrea Mariani and Antonio Di Leonardo, the founders of TakeMeBack, as they visit schools and communities. Director Marco Napoli captures the essence of their commitment through their actions and interactions: a notebook handed out, a relationship formed, the opportunity to learn.
At the heart of the film are the people: those who welcome others, those who give their time, and those who work every day to ensure that children have the opportunity to attend school.
It is through these relationships that the story of Serendip takes shape—and, with it, TakeMeBack’s approach: listening to the needs of communities, developing initiatives together, and documenting their implementation.
TakeMeBack has reached over 4,000 children in more than 20 schools across 8 countries in Africa, Asia, and South America. The program has grown thanks to the participation of the “Corrieri Solidali,” contributions from donors, and the support of a network of partner companies that assist the project in carrying out its initiatives.
Film has been a part of this work from the very beginning. Documenting our missions means shedding light on the contexts in which we operate, sharing how resources are used, and giving voice to the stories of the communities involved. This commitment later gave rise to *Safara*, TakeMeBack’s second documentary, filmed in Tanzania and recognized at several international film festivals.
The renewal of *Serendip* on Netflix—now available in 18 languages—strengthens TakeMeBack’s international visibility and introduces new viewers to the work of the Corrieri Solidali. Film thus becomes a meeting point for people and companies ready to support a cause that continues in schools and on missions.
