Safara: TakeMeBack's new documentary flies high at the Muses Film Awards – Levadia International Film Festival

Another international accolade for the TakeMeBack project, which continues to bring stories of travel and solidarity to the big screen with its second documentary.

Chieti, April 1, 2025 – Cinema as a tool for change, travel as a means of creating social impact: on this basis, TakeMeBack continues to make its mark on the international scene.

Following the success of *Serendip*, the first documentary produced by TakeMeBack during a mission by the Corrieri Solidali in Sri Lanka, the project is back in the spotlight with *Safara*, a new story of travel and solidarity filmed in Tanzania. The film will be presented at the prestigious Muses Film Awards – Levadia International Film Festival in Greece, where it will compete in the Best Documentary category.

The film also features a star-studded cast: the narrator is Roberto Pedicini, one of Italy’s most renowned voice actors, best known as the official voice of actors such as Kevin Spacey, Jim Carrey, and Javier Bardem.

The project’s founders, Andrea Mariani and Antonio Di Leonardo, along with part of the team, will walk the Greek red carpet from April 4 to 6, bringing with them not just a film, but a vision. Joining them on this adventure will be Lorenzo Antonelli, Fabio Talucci, Paolo Calcagni (director of Safara), and Giuliana Colucci—collaborators and friends who have shared the journey and believed in the project’s value.

“Taking part in an event like this is always an overwhelming rush of emotions,” says Andrea Mariani. “We started out with a dream and a strong desire to do good. Seeing our work recognized internationally, without ever having sought it, is the greatest reward.”

This success confirms the quality of the path TakeMeBack has taken. After winning numerous awards at international festivals, Serendip has landed on Netflix, bringing the project to a global audience.

“We’ve always aimed high and dreamed big. And every time, something wonderful has come back to us,” adds Antonio Di Leonardo. “Now we’re enjoying this experience with our team, but at the same time we’re continuing to seek out investors and companies eager to associate their name with a project that makes a lasting impact.”

Since 2016, TakeMeBack has been committed to building bridges between those who want to help and those who are truly in need. The missions carried out by the Solidarity Couriers have already delivered school supplies to thousands of children in areas where access to education is not guaranteed.

“Over time, we’ve come to realize that it’s not just what we leave behind that matters, but how we leave it behind,” Andrea reflects. “The real impact lies in the relationships we build, in the smiles, and in the stories that remain. And this experience is open to anyone who feels the desire to be part of something authentic.”

That’s the essence of TakeMeBack: combining travel with solidarity, and doing so through the most powerful and empathetic medium there is—film.

“Movies are our megaphone,” Antonio concludes. “They speak to everyone, young and old. And when companies decide to support these productions, everyone wins: we can tell stories that touch the soul, and they become an active part of a project with a significant social impact. It’s a synergy that works.”

From Serendip to Safara, TakeMeBack’s journey continues with a clear goal: to create a ripple effect—a global movement that inspires more and more people to embrace a new way of traveling, one built on empathy, sharing, and real impact.

By participating in the Muses Film Awards – Levadia International Film Festival, TakeMeBack takes another step toward spreading its message of solidarity and awareness, in the hope that the universal language of cinema will inspire more and more people to make a difference.
